Purpose

Founded in 2016, Fashion Museum of Texas (FMOT) is a 501(c)(3) organization that aims to educate, inspire, and engage people of all ages and backgrounds. Fashion is one of the most critical arenas in which life and art are intimately connected. Therefore, one can also assert that the museum constitutes a prolific space where this connection gets visualized and incorporated. At FMOT, the audience can learn about past times and lives through the display and the study of fashion as a socio-economic, cultural, and aesthetic phenomenon and of specific garments.

There is a dire need for a cultural institution in Greater Houston dedicated exclusively to fashion for young audiences to interact and learn from the art and for older audiences to advance their knowledge. Many Houstonians travel to other states and countries to interact with fashion exhibitions; however, many others dream of this interaction, and therefore, we want to bring the exhibitions to them.
